Many historians cite the main reason behind this; In the Middle Ages, the Ismaili group of Bahrain, also known as Qartaniya, considered the Hajj a magical practice and planned to kill thousands of pilgrims. Then they took the Black Stone to Kufa, Iraq. Then later in the Abbasid Empire, they were forced to return the Black Stone. But at that time it was broken and covered with a silver case.
